Edsa Baby Letter

Monday, February 27th, 2006

Rina Jimenez-David has this moving letter to her Edsa Baby.

You will always be our Edsa baby. “Mom, I hate it that people will always know my age,” you said a few days ago in mock dismay. The country and the world are not about to let you forget the meaning of your date of birth. But it is up to you to give meaning to the life we have given you.

Martial Law

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

Newspapers shut down. Arrests based on 21 year old warrants. Detention for being on the street.

Fasten your seatbelts guys we’re knee deep in Martial Law.

As I mentioned to my kasambahays earlier. For you who were too young to remember Martial Law during Marcos, well, here we are. You’re right in the middle of it.

God bless us all.

Grip Change

Friday, February 24th, 2006

I forgot to link my latest post in The Vespa Life.

Ever had your grips slip down the handlebar in the middle of traffic?
Here’s a solution that may strike you as odd.

I recently had the chance to change my grips on my PX150 since the old PX200 grips I had put on them last December were slipping badly, often sliding down 1/4th of the way out which is really a bummer.

I looked for my trusty GRP grips with stainless steel barends which I had stored somewhere and found them gathering dust in one of the plastic containers I call organizers in my garage. First things first. I had to undo a really botched up installation of the old grips.

State of Emergency

Friday, February 24th, 2006

She’s finally done it. Everyone knew this was coming. She’s probably licking her chops right now thinking of how to crack down on her favorite “destabilizers”. Damn!

The Coup that wasn’t was her final reason to do this. The Coup….hmmm shades of Enrile’s “Assasination attempt” which gave rise to the infamous “Martial Law”. Grabe talaga!

Edsa again

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

The anniversary of the 1st People Power Revolution is upon us. Despite the fact that my mom and I, me being the youngest child was tasked to accompany my mom, were in “exile” in Pasig away from Blue Ridge QC, where we stayed, and away from the danger, we were in touch with what was happening. My mom was and still is a Marco loyalist so imagine the conversations during our Sunday dinners during the time leading to the Edsa revolt. It was generally “fun” for me them. Getting to see tanks and soldiers up close. But the moment was not lost to me. I cried the first time I heard “Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo” being played on the radio and TV, I still get goosebumps when I hear it, honestly. It kind of reminds me that, at least once during my lifetime, Filipinos stood together…….even for a moment, for a common good.

I feel battered and bruised, war torn and weary, but I know the fight must still go on.

Edsa reminds us that the fight is never over.

Badminton Elbow

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Damn! First time I’ve gotten badminton (tennis) elbow and I don’t like it.
I’m here now typing this entry with an elastic bandage wrapped around my elbow. I attribute it to a real healthy abhorrance of stretching last night. Plus having to warm up with someone who insists on smashing the shuttle back to you….during warm ups…..I should really smack it back with full force one of these days.

Hay naku….

Malacañang Explosion

Monday, February 20th, 2006

Apparently there was an explosion inside the Malacañang grounds today. A garbage can exploded and debris was strew all over the grounds. It was a pretty large explosion as reported by some members of the MPC, as I heard over the radio.

Well, that really doesn’t surprise me, with the amount of BS there, the methane buildup would have been so big that I actually wonder why the explosion didn’t take out the whole place along with 2/3 of the city of Manila.

Good thing nobody got hurt, though the trash can didn’t survive.

Shabu-shabu in Pasig

Friday, February 17th, 2006

And I thought our family was the only one heavily into this shabu-shabu thing. I mean we were having that at least 2 times a day during the holiday season…..ah…ano…hindi yung shabu shabu na yon? Shite!

Ah you mean the Shabu-shabu restaurant ni Mayor…..este sa likod ng opisina ni Mayor dito sa mahal kong Pasig? Aaaaaah. Well….well…..well.

Our beloved Mayor has dug himself into a hole I don’t think he can crawl out of with this one. Call it the karma of doing a Pontius Pilate in the Ultra affair. What Eusebio did the other day in demolishing the area (evidence) is truly criminal and negligent at the very least.

I am currently watching Debate and I’m enjoying watching the City Administrator and City Attorney of Pasig get creamed by Gen. Elle and Mon Tulfo. Go get them guys, the Mayor should hang for this….well figuratively speaking of course….wink wink ;P

Php 50 Million Circus

Saturday, February 11th, 2006

I caught this on Yuga’s blog.
The 50 Million Peso Website Design

As Abe so eloquently asked the question..

Php50 M is a lot! What are they planning to put up there? A circus?

This definitely smells of something really really fishy. Heck they can just pay me 1% of that and I’d stick them with a site choc full o Frames, iFrames, Pop-ups and animated gifs! I’ll even throw in a dancing baby gif.

Hay naku, here we go again.

Scooter Sounds

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

The resourceful people at Scooterworks have finally come out with a Sound System for the PX/Stella.

Boom Box
Image from Scooterworks.com

Looks ugly if you ask me, but I’m willing to try anything. Vespas are way behind in the Boom Box scene here, with the lead being held firmly by the underbones, who have to blare up the volume so high because their pipes just make too much noise. Still beats those “ssssssssshhhhh” pieces of crap they put on their brake lights.
