Me wants this…..

The Vespa GT60 has combined the technology of the future with design cues from the original vintage era. It’s stunning, unique looks are sure to turn heads wherever it goes. Not only a stylish way to get around town, the Vespa GT60 will be a valuable investment for the future as a distinguished collector’s item.
Arrrgh, knowing full well that this will not be available here in the Philippines, I promptly reach for my soda and flatulate in the General direction of Italy. Grrrrrrr.
Uneven Tyre Wear
Tuesday, June 27th, 2006Having had the chance to check my tyres up close last week due to a flat, I discovered that the Continental Navigators have an odd, uneven type of wear. Unlike its counterpart the Twist where “tumors” would sprout up the Navigator has the tendency wear out rather unevenly. If you’re familiar with the tread of the Navigator, it has deep water channels which make them all around great tires for the Vespa. Having had them on my Vespa for more than a year now, the wear near the center (I’m a city rider most of the time so the centers’ usually wear out faster) tends to be a bit rough, the wear seems to thin out from the back of the dispersion pattern.
It’s a but tough to explain, but what it seems like is that the leading edge of the tread pattern, the ones that make contact with the ground first seems to be a bit higher than the rest of the pattern making them act like off road tyres. It’s weird and I’m stil not convinced that it’s like that, I have to do a couple of experiments though. I’ll keep you all updated.

My First Blogger EB….of sorts
Monday, June 26th, 2006 Finally got to meet some of the faces behind the blogs last Saturday.
I joined Jayvee’s Blogger Dinner, albeit really really late.
My wife and I decided to turn it into some sort of date, since for the first time in a long while, we really had nothing scheduled for a Saturday night. Well my wife, being the lovely lady she is, bless her, took all of the early evening prepping and we ended up arriving in Metrowalk near 10:00 PM. I was resigned to the fact that the EB was over. I called Abe, because he was the only guy I knew there, and surprise surprise they were heading back to Metrowalk to meet me….aw shucks….
Anyway I met Jayvee and Markku, who were both happily clicking away on their digital cameras. Abe and I had some business to discuss about our project. I would have been more than happy to join in their feast of halo halo and other dairy delectables, but I was too busy getting myself hammered with San Miguel Cerveza Negra hehe.
Anyway, after a few minutes, I had to go back to my wife who was, by then, looking for a new date, and get hammered some more.
I hope we can do this again guys, and I promise to come earlier!!
Markku has some photos of the meet up here.
Nice shots man, pa Photoshop naman ang mga wreeeeenkles ko haha.
Flock Me!
Monday, June 19th, 2006 I’ve been using Flock on my Mac since early last year when I heard great news about it.
Sad to say it wasn’t what I expected back then. It still lost out to the stable Firefox and the ultra fast Safari.
But through Abe’s blog, I found out that they had released a new beta version for windows, so I gave it a spin.
Flock feels lighter now than Firefox. Firefox has a tendency to be heavy because of all the extensions that you can install. But I’m no fan of extensions so that’s not really a problem.
Flock just feels cleaner and “sosyal”, it may be the colors, which are a lot like Apple’s Safari, or it could just be the novelty of something new.
The integration of Flickr and Photobucket are the greatest additions to this version. This is really cool and I would suggest you try Flock out, those with accounts there at least, just for this.
You can download flock at http://www.flock.com.
Why I ride my Vespa
Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

This morning I went to work in my car. This wouldn’t have been too much of a big thing except that this was the first time in 3 years that I was going to go my office, in Makati of all places, in my car. My son had sort of cornered me into bringing him with me to the office that morning. Riding with my son is a no brainer, he enjoys riding my Vespa and we’ve gone around the city together so much that there were no second thoughts about us riding the Vespa to work. Unfortunately there was the little matter called Marco, my youngest son. The true family man that I am
, I had to make arrangements which would include Marco coming with us. That blew the riding to work decision out of the water, I am brave, and I consider myself somewhat of a skilled rider but I am in no way stupid.
I digress. Anyway, as fate would have it, we finally left the house in my car. I was actually dreading the traffic which I encounter everyday from C5 to The Fort to Buendia all the way to the Pacific Star Building. The trip started out innocently enough, no traffic to my surprise along Pasig Blvd. connecting to C5. C5 was shockingly light all the way to the Kalyaan intersection. The Fort is ok, except for those crazily configured traffic lights (that’s another story for another day). But Buendia came along and that’s where I stayed for the next 30 minutes. 30 minutes sitting in your car waiting to move another inch. 30 minutes, on my Vespa can get me to Malate from Pasig and back. 30 minutes is my travel time to the office, including the time I take a bath, dress up and brush my teeth. It crazy really.
Aaaah, its’ suddenly become Motorcycle appreciation day for me today.
A real reminder of why we use our motorbikes to go to work everyday.
