Illegal Motorcycle Rider Profiling Continues

Monday, March 26th, 2007

PoliceI read this on the Motorcycle Philippines Forum.

Only in the Philippines….NOT!

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Confrontations like this are almost a regular occurrence on long rides, it has never escalated into this though. Clearly the driver of the SUV was pissed at the number of scoots on the road blocking HIS way.

When you see THAT many bikes on the road, there’s obviously an event, a rally a parade or any other group activity. You let them pass peacefully, you never, ever, ever break into their formation. The formation is meant to keep the group travelling as a large single unit making it safer for all concerned.

Geez.

Vespanomics

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

VespanomicsMeaning: the ecological, economic, and personal satisfaction one achieves after buying a Vespa scooter. Usage (Ex.) Lillian could be seen stylishly scooting around town once she discovered Vespanomics.

Additional meanings: 1. A feeling of total exhilaration; consistent with riding a stylish, high performance Vespa. 2. The incomparable level of satisfaction that can only come from helping the environment while also saving a boatload of money on gas.

Origin: A union of the words Vespa and economics. Related words: Vespanomic, adj, vespanomically, adv

So that’s what they call it now.

Vespa will soon be launching a program that will promote scootering as a fun lifestyle and at the same time a way to leave a smaller footprint on mother earth.

Read more about it here.

Hope this catches on here in our neck of the woods (or what’s left of them).

SuperDog!

Super Dog!

Just when I thought I’d seen everything, I see this. This was such an amazing spectacle that I chased it down till we got to the Kalyaan, C5 intersection in Taguig where I took this photo.

The dog was such a cool customer that he was even standing up on all fours when the rider was moving. The photo caught him resting.

Unbelievable I say. Galing!

They eventually exited towards The Fort, running at a respectable 50kph (I measured them), I wonder how the guards at the Fort are going to handle this, are they gonna stop him and ask him where the helmet of his backride is? hihihi…

After the success the first Awards had last year, membership in MBI skyrocketed from 12 to 96. Millions of readers worldwide read about the 2006 Awards.

Bajaj Chetak: Forgot about this

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Bajaj Chetak

In my excitement about Piaggio’s re-entry into the Indian market, I totally forgot about a 4-Stroke geared scooter that’s been around for quite a time already.

The Bajaj Chetak was developed by former Piaggio partner Bajaj (told you going solo was a good idea), the Chetak was Bajaj’s foray into the Vespa-look scooter scene in the USA where emission standards made it difficult for the 2 strokers to penetrate the market.

According to the Bajaj site….
