Hello blog. It’s been a while! I think posting 1 a year is now par for the course for me here. Seriously though, things have been quite busy with MCP and I ain’t complaining. The Aprilia is now gone from the garage and so is the PX. A lot of people were surprised by my decision to ditch my white PX who has been a staple of my garage, off and on, for the past 10 years. So many reasons to keep it, so many reasons to let it go, eventually practicality won out and we had to let go of the smoky two stroke in favor of the much more efficient four strokes, heritage be damned. In other riding news, I’ve been dabbling off the paved road for quite some time now and I thoroughly enjoy it. I hope to be back on the trails soon! That’s it for now, hopefully it won’t take another year till I post...

Have a taste of the Dolce Vita Experience!

Dolce Vita is the “Sweet Life”.   To celebrate this, Swatch created a delectable line of watches to express this Italian proverb by going back to the basics. A simple but sweet orange, a vine ripened tomato, a tangy onion or even a consumed sardine depicts the pleasure of a fresh, simple but satisfying meal.  Good food, to the fun- loving Italians, is the foundation of a good life. Bring a friend to the Dolce Vita Culinary Workshop at Swatch & Swatch from July 23 – 26.  It’s so simple.  All you need to do is buy a Swatch watch.  We take care of the rest.  Spend a gustatory morning or afternoon with us on: 23 July 2015, Thursday The Italian Pantry 5:30pm – 8:00pm 24 July 2015, Friday Pasta Making and the Right Sauce 5:30pm – 8:00pm 25 July 2015, Saturday Entertain the Italian Way 10:00am – 1:00pm or 3:00pm – 6:00pm 26 July 2015, Sunday Swiss Comfort Food 10:00am to 1:00pm or 3:00pm – 6:00pm (Please contact (02) 887-1898 to reserve a slot on your preferred date and time) To complete the Dolce Vita experience, Swatch, together with Vespinoy hand picked classic Italian Vespas and Lambrettas to exhibit.  These impeccably restored two- wheeled masterpieces are a sight to see. When life gives you lemons…fight back!

Just a few tips from some friends online on how to spot a lemon when purchasing a new vehicle. This can also apply to those of us who buy bikes and scoots. Hopefully soon we will have such protection available to us. Via: The Lemon Law...

A Small Victory For All

The Motorcycle Rights Organization has won a small but sweet victory against the implementation of the Motorcycle Lanes. Nope the dreaded lane is not suspended but the rules of it’s implementation has finally been released and they’re quite telling. The brouhaha started last Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2012 when the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) enforced the Motorcycle Lane along EDSA without any Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRRs). The graphics shown on TV as well as reported by those apprehended by the MMDA revealed that aside from apprehensions based on the lane violations, the MMDA was enforcing a long suspended Land Transportation Office (LTO) AHS-2008-015 which rendered motorcycle modifications, among other violations, illegal. Motorcycle Philippines (MotorcyclePhilippines.Com) was there when this was suspended so we were up in arms when the MMDA began using the Administrative Order as a basis for apprehension along EDSA. After several private exchanges with MRO head Jobert Bolanos, Atty. Yves Gonzalez of the MMDA finally released the formal rules and regulations last Friday, effective today Monday, February 20, 2012, and it does not include the aforementioned violations. The MMDA has admitted that they were not aware that the Administrative Order was suspended. The MMDA being an executive body cannot create any law but will have to rely on existing laws/ordinances and base its action on that. We are still in the position that the Motorcycle Lane is dangerous to everyday users. The infrastructure of Metro Manila is just not ready for a lane for Motorcycle Use. But, in the meantime, this will have to do. This will make things easier for our brothers on the road and lessen the chance of them being used as targets for illegal apprehensions. According to Jobert Bolanos, the rules apply both to the Commonwealth and Macapagal Ave. Motorcycle Lanes as well. Thank God for small victories. TDO Memorandum Re Motorcycle...
