Title: Orenji is on her way back...
Post by: the_Nong on July 31, 2012, 10:00:35 PM
yes, i'm going back in riding a Vespa.

it was an opportunity for me because our family vehicle is now being utilized by my wife and the kids. they go to school early in the morning and my wife in the mid morning then me by lunchtime. later in the afternoon, everybody is on their way home in the vehicle while i am still at work. going home is a little hassle, with my old age and i got used to being in a cage, i have a hard time going home to malate from abs-cbn, MRT then LRT then walk arounf 10 blocks then go up the stairs to the 6th floor.. whoah.. on the other hand, taxi. 200 bucks one way..

i wanted to go on two wheels and i got attracted to the Yamaha FZ-16. low down payment, low monthly. then DirekReg asked me, why not continue the legacy of the Vespa. i can't go wrong. then, i have searched for use/pre-owned units. i was shocked discovering that prices went three times higher! bnew units too. i was even focused on buying the LX150, kaso, de-kambyo parin gusto ko eh.. anyway, after searching the net, i stumbled on my old friend (the guy who influenced me about riding a PX) who's selling an LML Vespa PX150 unit (formerly Star), 2008 all-stock with carrier and GIVI box for only 85k! and i was in glad that finally im having one! then Dave came along. our British friend that goes to the PI and rides with the boys once in a while, hehehe.. Dave bought Orenji during the 1st quarter of 2006. now, he saw my enthusiasm in getting a unit and now offered me Orenji at a reasonable price (of course may 'tawaran' in the process), an now the deal is closed!

Orenji has been in 2211 ever since and in good condish. with a few bumps, rusts, and dents, she's still a beauty! hopefully by friday or over the weekend, ill take her home. few upgrades, tune ups, cleaning and a little this and that.. she's getting back!

i will post pics soon!

thank you for welcoming me back. see you around!

Hiya Nong,

It's good that we have closed the deal and you are about to get Orangi back!!

Sorry about the rust and dents, the main culprit was when I got knocked off by a car on a hair-pin bend. I was riding with Cliff and few of the other guys and the car driver was too busy looking at the line of Vespas rather then negotiating the sharp bend in the road.

The engine is sweet, taking me and Riza (my wife) from Manila up to Angeles and then on to Subic and Iba before returning to Manila.
BTW rode from Subic to Manila on one tank of petrol.  FUEL EFFICIENT!!!!

i suggest you get FA Italia Aluminum rims na lang.  Easier to manage.  Madali magpalit ng gulong.

dinga?

so, i have decided on the rims..

now, meron pa bang bnew na SITO Plus pipes?

nice description:

The SITO Plus is the ultimate alternative to the original PIAGGIO item and also the first step into the wonderful world of performance exhaust systems. Hardly distinguishable from the original, the SITO Plus impresses with its inner values. It provides a noticeable power increase in the mid and upper rev ranges and so guarantees an improved performance especially with standard cylinder setups, more constant acceleration is also made possible while changing up from third to fourth gear.

Both would be good additions. I suppose it's down to personal choice.
Personally, I would prefer a rear carrier to a front one. A screen might protect you from belching smoke and general dirt when riding.

Let the drain of your battery drain behind the spare tire so the fluids doesn't drip on the rim of your spare tire and ruin it.

Nice PX! Ride Safe!

that's the fun with a Vespa.. you can customize it din naman. visit Caloocan, sa mga motorcycle stores, they sell windshields na pang motor like the pang tricycle, may kasamang rods ung usually.. then buy brackets or pagawa sa latero, then pa-cut mo ung winshield na pasok sa Vespa.. it might work..

if not, order ka nalang. hehehe.. pag Vespa..

final stages will be by next year, after the re-paint.. plus:

re-chrome
re-upholster
re-screws back to stainless allenheads
maybe change of tires
plus more..

for the meantime, i'll leave the rust and bent-marks as is.. as what volkswagen enthusiasts say "Hood Ride"..

Salamat Dave! Pare ko!
