i rode a PX for eight years. i loved it, specially after the upgrades (disc brake, hydraulic shocks). the engine stayed stock though. in everyday use, it was great; nimble, maneuverable, terrific on corners. it was fast enough in the city. it turned heads.
and even on the long rides (and i've been practically everywhere), despite the discomfort sometimes, it held its own.

as you guys know, i've just traded up to a GT. immediately, i've taken note of the differences: more power, more stability, the quiet and comfort (so far, anyway).
while i've not taken it on a long ride, i can already anticipate that the experience will be much different from that of a PX. but the GT is heavier and does not maneuver as easily as the PX does. i suppose these are the trade-offs.

in the end, i'd go with my ideal scenario: having both. given the opportunity, i'd gladly get me a PX again, to go with the GT.

hypothetically, would any of you buy a geared ET, LX or GT?

john,
Matic na old school? Vespa GTV and Vespa LXV. :D

I doubt if Piaggio will come out with a geared 4 stroke Vespa.  Piaggio is a highly progressive company willing to take risks in churning out new models of bikes.  They rely heavily on new technology in the design of their scoots/bikes.  Some of the bikes have been huge hits and some have been less than ideal (DNA and Vespa COSA hehe).  I think they'll stick to CVT's for their current and future line ups.  And the news that the PX will be reaching it's EOL (end of line) this year really doesn't help any too.

But I hope I'm wrong.  Imagine a PX with a GT engine.  HEAVEN!

A lot of Classic PX riders have traded to a modern GT, LX and ET.  Are the Autoscooters better than the classic geared PX?

Personally i like the Vespa PX because of its vintage look and classic feel. I'd love   to own a GT because it has a powerful engine and also for ease of use.

Is the autoscoot realy bettter than our old classic PX?

Babalik din sila sa PX/Vitto.

Geared.

Practically speaking, price value, i'd go for the PX. The price won't depreciate it comes out to me as an investment at the same time a work horse.

VESPA,

Bring this question up at the latter part of the year. I'd like to make a study on pricing of both units.  :D :D

regards,

Hehe i made my fearless forecast na to Pal and Ton last month.  The PX/Vitto is the only scooter (or 2 wheeled machine) that appreciates in price in Manila.  Everything else depreciates with no exception!

I was just thinking about that casa thing percentage depreciation. That is why i chose the PX.

Imagine you bought your VESPA at the year 1997 for P52,000. Now people sell their PX not below P85,000. Wow  :o

Market Value of the PX200 goes even higher than the GT. Wow  :o

BUT, if i had MONEY, which i dont, I would also keep an automatic scooter like the LX150. I like it..

which brings us to the next hypothetical question..

if corradino d' ascanio (1891-1981) and enrico piaggio (probably dead too) were still alive in 1996, would 4-stroke, centrally-mounted engine automatics like the ET have come out?
