5 things you probably didn’t know about me.

Continuing the vanity here…..care of Gail.

  1. I was a former RP Pool member for Tenpin Bowling.
Bowling was the first sport I really excelled in. Influenced by my Mom, who taught me everything I knew about bowling, I started playing when I was 7 years old and only finally decided to quit around 5 years ago. I was part of the RP Pool which qualified (I finished 2nd overall) for the 1991 SEA Games which was held here. Unfortunately, I was never “picked” into the officiall team, but being part of the pool did have it’s perks. Ah well…..
  2. I’ve got 1 official Hole In One!
Shot it during a friendly game with a couple of buddies a couple of years back. Shot it on a 140 yard Par 3 on Valley Golf’s South Course (I think it was the 14th, the island green where the guys sell balls from the pumping station). Yehey! And to think that after 30 odd years of bowling I never shot a perfect 300 game (shot 299 once) but a couple of years of golf gave me one official Hole in One!
  3. I went back to school at age 30
Back in 2000(?) (I was 32 then) I enrolled in Informatics to study to become an CIP (Certified Internet Professional or something like that). I had always been in love with technology and was busy tinkering around with computers since my Apple 2e days (don’t forget the AT, XT and the TRS-80). This was a logical step which, as fate would have it, has brought me to where I am today.
  4. I love fried chicken
Give me fried chicken anyday, anytime, anyhour. **Chomp chomp**
A close second is PF Jumbo Hotdog :D

  5. I was a restaurateur for more than 10 years
My family ran Luigi’s Steakhouse on Tomas Morato Ave. (Now Alba’s) from 1989 to 2001. I was the General Manager of the restaurant and it’s branch in Sta. Lucia for a good part of that. I also helped set up the catering business and a bar (Live at the Ridge) which were spin offs of Luigi’s.
Alas, bad times caught up with us and we had to close shop, this is what prompted me to go back to school and pursue a much needed career change. That experience will always be with me and has changed my outlook on life tremendously. Maybe someday I’ll open up a small Luigi’s somewhere and come home to where it all started. **sniff**

There, I’m done….
