I texted most of you three weeks ago regarding the nomination that i recieved form some Asean countries record label executives who spearheaded IKON.

I was flattered and ecstatic, at first, to be chosen among many Pinoy artists. Now i feel a bit…scared because the nomination is also a competition.

IKON is an Asean Music Initiative conceptualized to promote Asean artists within the region. This is being implemented simultaneously in 3 countries , Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, where professional solo artists and bands vie to represent their respective countries to compete in the regional finals in Malaysia on August 12. The list of nominees are as follows:

SOLO: Grace Nono, Chris Cayzer, Top Suzara, Julianne, Sitti, Noel Cabangon, Vina Morales and Skarlet.

The program will air starting June 24 and will air for 8 weeks every Sunday at 7pm. They will conclude with a live satellite telecast from Malaysia to watch our representatives vie for the championship.

The judges for this competition are The legendary Wally Gonzales, Vince Parr of WOLFPAC and Mr Eugene Villaluz.

Results will be based on 60% Judges’ choice and 40% ( aaaaargh!!!!) text votes. This criteria is only in effect in the Philippines. The ASEAN Grand Finals on Aug12 will be solely based on TALENT.

i joined this competition for only one reason…to grab this chance for my music to be heard
outside the country. As an independent artist, I can’t afford an Asia-wide media and online promotion like what IKON’s offering. i have never even travelled outside the country, there were many offers though, but they want me to sing other artists'(pop music) songs that’s why i declined many times.

As a musician/singer, I’ve always aimed to primarily,make original compositions not just for pure self-expression but songs that would hopefully break in the international market and secondly, live performances that are tight and world-class.I attached 2 of my original compositions for those who haven’t heard my new album.

There are 550 million music audience in the ASEAN region. If you find reason to believe in my music to be heard by 550 million people, i humbly ask for your support to choose me to represent the Philippines to the ASEAN competition in malaysia on Aug12. I don’t have major-label machinery backing, no big network behind me, no manager, no hordes of screaming fans either. I have my indie label’s support, myself and hopefully your support. Send this email to all of your contacts with your endorsement and tell something about me and my music to all your family members, friends, colleagues, forum members and to everyone you know.
