Alarming things going on in Palawan

Totally non-Vespa related but news every Filipino should be aware of.

Read this.

This is extremely alarming news coming from Palawan. The news of the 30 Chinese poachers who were caught in Palawan’s famed Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park and subsequently released from custody by this judge is bad enough. But having this same judge, who apparently holds the distinction of holding the environmental court in Palawan, give out another highly questionable order is truly beyond me.

From the World Wildlife Fund Website
Napoleon WrasseManila, the Philippines – A fishing vessel carrying tonnes of illegally caught fish was seized by Filipino officials off the waters of the strictly protected Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park in the Sulu Sea. After giving chase, the vessel, with 30 Chinese fishermen on board, was stopped and brought to port.

Tonnes of high-value fish, including live grouper, red snapper and 1,200 endangered Napoleon wrasse (also known as humphead wrasse) were discovered in the vessel’s hold. The collection, possession, transport or trade of this wrasse is illegal under Philippine law — the possession of a single fish can carry a fine of US$2,400 as well as a prison term of between 12 and 20 years. The species is also listed under Appendix II of the Convention for the International Trade of Endangered Species (CITES), which means that international trade is regulated.

Would you believe the judge ordered them released? And now this news of another vessel being released with it’s cargo of stuffed turtles. Investigators found equipment inside the vessel that will allow the poachers to stuff turtles right on board the ship.

Picha lang talaga ang katapat…a friend of mine would say….picha lang pare.

I hope King Triton comes out from the deep and stab these people really deep with his trident, then bitch slap them with Flounder.
