The new Vespa PX 150 that arrived at 2211 yesterday, and they were really nothing more than the PX 200 with a 150cc engine.
That is until they removed the engine cover.
That my friend is a catalytic converter. The first of it’s kind I’ve seen on a Vespa engine in the Philippines. It re-circulates the unburnt fuel and oil from the exhaust pipe back to the carburetor for a cleaner, greener engine. The exhaust looks new too, looks more like a sito plus exhause, my batteries ran out before I could take a picture of it.
I would have liked to hear these babies in action, they were going to activate one that morning to see how it ran, but I had to leave for office duty.
Check these babies out in 2211 Works. Or better yet, buy them na hehehe.
Bimbs,
Borrowed the photo here for a related posting in my blog. Hope you don’t mind. 😉

I have a 2005 PX 150, and I find it runs pretty well… usually starts on the second or third kick. My previous scooter was an ET4, so I have no experience with vintage Vespas on which to make comparisons. My bike goes 50 mph pretty easily.
Also, what you describe is Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR). A catalytic converter just sits there (in this case, inside the muffler), speeding the process of oxidizing smog-causing stuff like oxides of nitrogen.
Oh, the Serie America was a batch of 150 in really icky metallic green. Shortly after its introduction, you could get a PX 150 in red, black or silver, without the plaque. Mine’s black.
Hi Orin, welcome to Vespinoy!
Thanks for the correction regarding the EGR, it’s not everyday we see those kinds of things here.
